CAN I MAKE HOMEMADE HUMMUS

Yes, this recipe also works if you choose to make your own creamy homemade hummus dip as the base. Homemade hummus is fairly easy to make and only takes a handful of ingredients. Typically it is:

  • Garbanzo beans (or chickpeas)
  • Tahini
  • Lemon
  • Olive oil
  • Seasonings like cumin, salt and black pepper

If you want a super easy recipe for homemade hummus, check out this Easy Hummus recipe by Inspired Taste. One of the great things about making your own hummus is that you can tailor the base recipe to fit your tastebuds. You can make a roasted garlic hummus, roasted red pepper hummus or stick with the traditional silky smooth hummus.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH HUMMUS DIP

There are a variety of foods you can serve with this healthy snack. Whether you’re looking to serve this as an appetizer or an accompaniment to an easy dinner, below are A few options to consider:

  • Fresh Vegetables – Sliced bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots or celery sticks make great dippers for hummus. They add a nice crunch and balance to the creaminess of the dip.
  • Grilled or roasted vegetables – Grilled eggplant, zucchini, or roasted red peppers are wonderful options to serve alongside hummus, offering smoky flavors and a nice contrast in texture.
  • Olives: A bowl of mixed olives, such as Kalamata or green olives, pairs well with hummus and adds a savory and briny element.
  • Warm pita bread – Warm or toasted pita bread is a classic choice for dipping into hummus. You can cut into wedges or tear into smaller pieces
  • Favorite crackers – As an alternative to pita bread you can serve your favorite crackers for an added crunch.
  • Grilled meat or kebabs – If you’re serving hummus as part of a larger meal, grilled chicken, beef, or lamb kebabs make a fantastic accompaniment.

Feel free to get creative in whatever you choose to serve with this amazing dip.

This is how it starts right? Before I know it I’ll look up and she’ll be holding her diploma.

I’m trying to remember to build her up and instill a strong sense of self because we won’t always be with her helping her navigate this thing called life.

It’s been a bumpy transition as I wanted to keep her in our little bubble just a little while longer. But…we are here and I know this is all part of her growing up.

Don’t ask me if I’m fine because I’m not 😩 but I know I will be.
