INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR TURKEY BURGER RECIPE
To make these the juiciest turkey burger sliders you will need the following
- Ground turkey breast: I love that ground turkey is such a lean meat. I prefer to cook with 93/7 ground turkey however 85/15 will work for this recipe as well.
- Spices: I used a mix of black pepper, salt, parsley, paprika and chili powder to season the meat mixture.
- Garlic: Either fresh garlic cloves or pre-chopped garlic can be used to add some extra flavor for the ground turkey burgers.
- Mini burger buns: I used whole wheat steakhouse dinner rolls as my slider buns however there are a few other whole wheat slider bun options you can choose from. Some options are Hawaiian rolls or Pepperidge farms whole wheat slider buns.
- Favorite toppings: This turkey burger uses all of the traditional burger toppings like lettuce, tomato, dill pickle, cheese and onion. However you can tailor the toppings for these mini burgers to your personal preference.
SPECIAL SAUCE:
The magic in these burgers in the special sauce. I made this sauce ala McDonald’s secret sauce but with some substitutions. Ingredients I used are:
- Mayo
- Greek yogurt
- Dijon mustard
- Low sugar ketchup
- Rice vinegar
- Worcestershire sauce
- Relish: Sweet relish is typically used for special sauces however I personally prefer dill relish taste in this sauce.
- Spices: I used a few spices to season the sauce like black pepper, salt, and turmeric for some additional color.
HOW TO MAKE SLIDERS
In a medium bowl, combine turkey, spices, garlic and Worcestershire sauce and mix until throughly combined. Once combined, portion out about 2 tbsp of meat mixture and form into turkey patties. Continue making the turkey patties with the remainder of the meat mixture. Once done, set aside on plate or parchment lined baking sheet.
Heat a large griddle or large skillet to medium heat and spray with a high cooking oil spray like avocado oil. Place the turkey burger sliders on the griddle or skillet and cook for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side. Cook all the patties until they are cooked through and no longer pink in the middle. Remove from the heat and place a slice of cheese on top so that it can begin to melt.
While the turkey burger sliders are cooking, make your special sauce by combining all of the ingredients together for the sauce in a small bowl and set aside. Optional step you can toast the inside of your slider buns in a non-stick skillet sprayed with olive oil before building your burgers.
To build your easy turkey burger sliders, first place your slider buns on a plate and top with the special sauce. Next place one ground turkey patty on the bun and top with red onion, tomato, dill pickles and lettuce. Place the other burger bun on top.
HOW TO STORE LEFTOVERS
