MAIN INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR THIS GARLIC PARMESAN CHICKEN
There are only a few main ingredients you will need in order to make these garlic parmesan chicken skewers recipe. Aside from the main ingredients, if you have a stocked pantry and spice cabinet, you will have everything you need to make these come together quickly.
Main ingredients are:
- Boneless skinless chicken thighs – chicken thighs have a great flavor and have more fat content however you can substitute boneless skinless chicken breasts or chicken tenderloin for this recipe.
- Bulb of garlic – to amp up the flavor and take some of the bite off of the garlic, I roast it in the oven to make it sweeter. Trust me, it’s worth it.
- Parmesan Cheese – grated parmesan cheese is rich and nutty in flavor with slightly salty kick

HOW TO MAKE CHICKEN SKEWERS
ROASTED GARLIC
Preheat oven to 350 degrees f. Tear a large sheet of foil and set aside. Cut the garlic bulb in half and season the garlic with extra-virgin olive oil, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning. Place on top of the foil and wrap it tightly so it’s covered. Place in the oven and bake for approx. 30 minutes or until the garlic becomes fragrant and is soft.
While the garlic is baking, in a large baking pan, fill halfway with water and soak your bamboo skewers.
CHICKEN THIGHS
Next, prep your chicken thighs by cutting them into small pieces so that they are easier to thread onto the wooden skewers. Once all of your chicken is cut into small pieces place them in a shallow dish and season with your spices including paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper, onion powder and parsley. Ensure the chicken is coated well. Now you are ready to thread chicken strips.
Take a bamboo skewer and thread the chicken onto the skewers until you have about 5 – 6 chicken chunks on the skewer. It should fill the skewer about halfway down. Repeat this process until all of your chicken is threaded. This should make approx. 6 – 7 skewers. Next, place chicken skewers in your air fryer and cook for 10 minutes on 400 degrees f.
PARMESAN SAUCE
While the chicken is cooking, make your parmesan sauce. Remove the garlic from the oven and in a small sauce pan heat 3 tbsp of butter over medium heat and melt. Next add 1/3 cup of grated parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes and fresh herbs. Squeeze the garlic cloves into the sauce and stir well to combine. The garlic will begin to melt and breakdown in the sauce however you may need to help it along by “smushing” it along the sides of the saucepan. Once the sauce is done, set aside.
Once the pieces of chicken have cooked for 10 minutes, slather the cheese sauce over the skewers and flip to the other side and place some of the sauce on the other side as well. Close the air fryer and cook the chicken for another 10 minutes at 400 degrees f.
After the chicken is cooked to a golden brown, remove from the air fryer and allow to cool to room temperature. Optional, you can choose to squeeze some lemon juice on top of the chicken pieces for some extra bright acidity.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH GARLIC PARMESAN CHICKEN
You can eat these skewers on their own or choose to serve it with some yummy sides to make it a complete meal. Some options are:
- Jasmine Rice
- Mashed potatoes
- Sweet potato french fries
However you choose to serve it, it is bound to be delicious and a crowd pleaser!
