Crispy BBQ Chicken Wrap
If you’re looking for an easy lunch or quick weeknight dinner, this BBQ chicken wrap is about to become a new favorite. It’s filled with tender shredded BBQ chicken, melty cheddar cheese, and a creamy cilantro lime white bean spread before being toasted until perfectly golden and crispy.
What makes this wrap different from the classic version is the creamy white bean spread. It adds richness, a boost of protein and fiber, and fresh cilantro lime flavor without overpowering the smoky sweetness of the barbecue sauce. Every bite has the perfect balance of creamy, cheesy, crispy, and savory.
The best part? If you already have leftover BBQ chicken in the refrigerator, these wraps come together in about 20 minutes.

Ingredient Notes
BBQ Chicken
This recipe is one of my favorite ways to use leftover BBQ chicken. I almost always make a batch of my Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken at the beginning of the week and use the leftovers for wraps, sandwiches, salads, and pizzas.
Cannellini Beans
Cannellini beans become incredibly creamy once mashed and have a mild flavor that pairs perfectly with barbecue sauce.
Cheese
Sharp cheddar melts beautifully and complements the smoky BBQ flavor, but Colby Jack, Monterey Jack, or Pepper Jack also work well.
How to Make a BBQ Chicken Wrap
Step 1: Make the White Bean Spread
In a food processor, combine the cannellini beans, cilantro, lime juice, lime zest, garlic, and salt.
Pulse until mostly smooth but still slightly textured.
Set aside.
Step 2: Warm the Chicken
Warm the shredded BBQ chicken in a skillet or microwave until heated through.
Step 3: Assemble the Wraps
Spread several tablespoons of the white bean mixture across each tortilla.
Top with:
- shredded BBQ chicken
- shredded cheddar cheese
Fold in the sides and roll tightly.

Step 4: Crisp the Wrap
Heat a skillet over medium heat.
Lightly spray the pan with cooking spray or add a small amount of butter.
Cook each wrap for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy and the cheese has melted.
Slice in half and serve immediately.

Optional Toppings
Although these wraps are delicious on their own, you can easily customize them with your favorite toppings.
Try adding:
- sliced avocado
- pickled jalapeños
- fresh cilantro
- crispy bacon
- corn
- coleslaw
- sliced green onions
For even more fresh flavor, drizzle with my Cilantro Lime Crema before serving.

Tips for the Best BBQ Chicken Wrap
🌯 Don’t overfill the tortillas – It’s tempting, but overstuffed wraps are harder to roll and won’t crisp evenly.
🧀 Use freshly shredded cheese – Freshly shredded cheese melts much better than pre-shredded varieties.
✨ Cook over medium heat – Too much heat will brown the tortilla before the cheese melts.
🥄 Press lightly while cooking – A spatula helps create that golden, crispy exterior.
Storage
- Store assembled wraps in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in a skillet or air fryer to bring back the crispy texture.
- I don’t recommend microwaving since the tortilla can become soft.
Meal Prep Tips
- Prepare the white bean spread up to 4 days in advance.
- Cook the BBQ chicken ahead of time and store it separately.
- Assemble and crisp the wraps just before serving for the best texture.
