Tropical smoothie cafe is by far one of my favorite smoothie places to frequent. Whenever I go, I generally always get the same smoothie, which is the kiwi quencher smoothie. It’s such a simple recipe that I knew I had to to make my own homemade recipe for it. With just a handful of ingredients, this will easily become one of your new ways to make this best tropical smoothie kiwi quencher recipe at home!

FRUITS IN A KIWI QUENCHER TROPICAL SMOOTHIE

There are two simple fruits in this copycat recipe and that is strawberries and kiwi. Strawberries are a popular and delicious fruit known for their sweet and slightly tangy flavor. They are a nutrition powerhouse as they give you a lot of nutritional value for very few calories. They are a great source of vitamin C and helps strengthen your immune system.

Paired with the strawberries are some ripe kiwis. Kiwis are known as the Chinese gooseberry and is a unique and refreshing fruit. Along with being high in vitamin C, kiwis are high in dietary fiber and can support heart health, digestive health and immunity.

Both fruits together provide a flavor balance as strawberries provide a natural sweetness with a hint of tartness while kiwi offer a tangy and slightly tart flavor. When combined the sweetness of strawberries balances out the tanginess of kiwi creating a well rounded taste experience.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR TROPICAL SMOOTHIE RECIPE

Given this smoothie pairs both a sweet and tart fruit together, there are a few simple ingredients we will use in order to balance the flavors and make this best tropical smoothie kiwi quencher recipe. The best part is that all of these ingredients can be found at your local grocery store.

  • Kiwi – I used a blend of kiwis pairing both golden kiwis and green kiwi as I had them both on hand. However this is not a requirement and only one type is needed.
  • Strawberries – I used fresh strawberries to add to this strawberry smoothie however frozen strawberries can be easily used as it will make for a more creamy smoothie
  • Low-fat greek yogurt – for some added protein and to help thicken the smoothie. Plain greek yogurt works best however can choose a flavor like vanilla or strawberry.
  • Almond Milk – adds some creaminess and a touch of sweetness. Can be sweetened or unsweetened

OPTIONS AND ALTERNATIVES

  • Protein powder – Protein powder is always a great way to add some extra protein in smoothies. Most protein powders can add as much as 25g protein per serving to your smoothie. This helps make it more filling and keeps you fuller longer.
  • Alternative milk – if you have a nut allergy or want to try a different milk you can easily swap out the almond milk for soy milk, whole milk, oat milk or coconut milk.
  • Pack in some veggies – If you want to get some extra greens in your day adding a handful of spinach or kale will blend well with this strawberry kiwi smoothie recipe
  • Healthy fats – adding a few healthy fats to this delicious smoothie and bump up the nutritional value. Adding a teaspoon of seeds like hemp seeds, chia seeds, or flax seeds or even a scoop of peanut butter is a healthy choice.
  • Make it tropical – if you want to play up the tropical flavors in this smoothie you can add some different fruits like pineapple or mango. You can also swap out the almond milk for coconut water, orange juice or pineapple juice.

  1. Not sure where I went wrong, but mine tastes nothing like what I get at TS. My only thought is that maybe using frozen strawberries was the downfall? I taste nothing but the seeds. Any advice of how to make it better?
    I used:
    1/2 cup frozen strawbs
    2 kiwis (peeled of course)
2/3 cup of vanilla almond milk
1/4 cup of non-fat Greek yogurt

Hi Katie! Typically when the smoothie is “seedy” it has to do with the blend speed and/or blender. A high powered blender like a nutribullet, ninja foodie or vitamix (holy grail of blenders) will blend ingredients to a smooth consistency. Also unsure what blend speed you used but be sure it’s on high and not on a “low” speed or pulsed. I truly hope that helps!

  2. I just made this and I’m disappointed! It didn’t really taste like the TSC at all. My blender is very powerful, it chopped all the seeds up. I will now hunt for the exact recipe.

Hi AM! I’m really sorry to hear that the recipe didn’t turn out as expected! It can be tricky to replicate the exact taste and texture, especially with different blenders or ingredients. I totally understand your frustration. If you’re looking for a more authentic version, I’d be happy to recommend some adjustments or alternative methods that could help. I hope you’ll give it another try, and feel free to reach out if you need any tips! Thanks for sharing your feedback, and I hope you find the perfect recipe soon!”
