Panera is one of my favorite quick service restaurants and I love their roasted turkey avocado BLT sandwich. Whenever I frequent the restaurant, guaranteed this is the sandwich I’m ordering. It’s simple to make and packs so much yummy goodness in every bite. This sandwich is perfect for a quick lunch on the go, or even prepped for lunch for a few days. Pair it with some crunchy veggies or baked chips and you have the perfect go-to meal.

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT THAN THE PANERA SANDWICH

For starters, Panera’s sandwich is made with sourdough bread, and pork bacon. That brings the calories of Panera bread roasted turkey & avocado to 850 calories, 53g of fat and 54g of carbs. Whew, that’s quite a bit all wrapped up in one sandwich.

I made a few modifications which will save some extra calories, fat and macro’s. I use my favorite thin sliced 100% whole grain bread that is only 13g of carbs per slice (or 26g for one sandwich). Next, I trade out the pork bacon for turkey bacon which significantly reduces the fat grams for the sandwich. Lastly, instead of regular mayo, I swap for low fat olive oil mayo.

With those simple swaps, this sandwich comes in at 410 calories, 26g carbs and 21g fat.

INGREDIENTS FOR ROASTED TURKEY AND AVOCADO BLT

Given this is a sandwich that lists the ingredients in it’s name, your grocery store list will be pretty simple. If you don’t have everything on hand, I’ll give a few suggestions of some alternatives you can use instead.

For this roasted turkey and avocado blt you will need:

  • 100% Whole Wheat bread
  • Sliced Turkey breast
  • Sliced Turkey bacon
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Low Fat mayo

A few alternatives you can use instead are:

  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Spinach
  • Canadian bacon

CAN I PREP THIS BLT SANDWICH FOR THE WEEK

Absolutely! This sandwich is so simple to make and stores really well in the fridge for up to 2 days. There are two ways you can prep this meal.

Option 1, you can assemble the sandwich and place the condiments of mayo and avocado in reusable 2 oz. containers. When you’re ready to eat, just add the mayo and avocado to the sandwich.

Option 2 is to make the sandwiches and then wrap the sandwich first in plastic storage wrap, then in foil. This will help keep the bread from getting soggy.

HOW TO MAKE ROASTED TURKEY AND AVOCADO BLT SANDWICHES

Full recipe details including amounts are in the recipe card below.

First, gather all of the ingredients to make the sandwich.

Next, spread the light mayonnaise on one slice of the whole grain bread. On the other slice of bread, spread the sliced avocado on that half.

To build your sandwich, layer the turkey slices, turkey bacon, tomatoes and lettuce on one slice of bread. Top with the other slice of bread and enjoy!

I’m trying to remember to build her up and instill a strong sense of self because we won’t always be with her helping her navigate this thing called life.
