Birthday cake is probably everyone’s favorite type of cake. However, as the saying goes, what if you could have your cake and eat it too? Or in this case, drink it? While it may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of birthday cake, I promise this birthday cake smoothie is the next best thing.

WHAT IS IN A BIRTHDAY CAKE SMOOTHIE

Birthday cake smoothie have some super simple ingredients that you most likely already have on hand.

  • 1 scoop birthday cake protein powder
  • ½ cup ice
  • ½ banana
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • Sprinkles for topping

If you do not have almond extract on hand, don’t fret, either double the vanilla extract or omit it altogether. The choice is truly yours!

ADDITIONAL MIX INS FOR A PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

The great thing about this simple smoothie recipe is that you can tailor it to your needs. If you want to add more protein, omega 3 fatty acid and extra fiber, you can add tbsp of ground flaxseed.

If you’re looking to add a bit more carbs and make the smoothie more filling or “hefty” then adding ¼ cup of oats will do the trick.

Lastly a tbsp of almond butter will give you a bit more protein and healthy fat but note it will change the flavor of the smoothie slightly.
