Ingredients You Need

This recipe uses simple, basic ingredients you probably already have on hand. The key to that Chick-fil-A flavor is the marinade — don’t skip this step!

Here’s what you’ll need to make Chick-fil-A style grilled nuggets:

  • 2–3 large chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
  • Salt & pepper
  • Paprika
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Browning seasoning sauce (adds color + flavor)

That’s it! The magic is in the combination — simple ingredients that deliver bold flavor.

How to Make Chick-fil-A Grilled Nuggets

Whether you’re using a grill, a grill pan, or an air fryer, these nuggets come together quickly.

  1. Prep the chicken: Dice chicken into nugget-sized pieces and place in a large bowl or zip-top bag.
  2. Mix the marinade: Combine spices and seasonings in a small bowl. Pour over chicken and toss to coat.
  3. Marinate: Let the chicken rest for 30–45 minutes for maximum flavor.
  4. Preheat: Heat grill or grill pan to 350–375°F. Spray with avocado oil or another high-heat oil.
  5. Cook: Grill nuggets for 3–5 minutes per side, until cooked through and lightly charred.
  6. Serve: Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce and sides!

Air Fryer Instructions

You can also cook these nuggets in the air fryer!

  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F.
  • Place chicken in a single layer (don’t overcrowd).
  • Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway through.
  • Cook until edges are browned and internal temp reaches 165°F.

Dipping Sauce Ideas

You can always grab Chick-fil-A sauce at the grocery store, but my favorite macro-friendly options are the G Hughes sugar-free dipping sauces. We especially love:

  • Cluckin’ dipping sauce (tastes close to CFA!)
  • Honey mustard (James’s favorite!)

What to Serve With Grilled Nuggets

These nuggets go well with everything — healthy sides, more protein, or carb-friendly options. Try pairing with:

  • Sweet potato fries
  • Crinkle-cut fries
  • Fresh fruit or fruit cup
  • Baked chips
  • Pretzel thins

How to Store & Reheat

These nuggets are PERFECT for meal prep.

  • Store: Refrigerate in an airtight container for 3–4 days.
  • Freeze: Up to 2 months.
  • Reheat: Air fry at 350°F for 3–4 minutes or microwave for 30 seconds.

These were great, and great for meal prep.

    1. So delicious. Can I cook these and put them in the freezer? Or is it best to freeze them raw w the marinade? Thanks

      1. Kim Abbage Hart says:

Hi Maria, I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe! You can definitely freeze them, but I recommend freezing them raw with the marinade to help lock in the flavor. When you’re ready to cook, just thaw them in the fridge and cook as directed. Let me know if you have any other questions — enjoy!”

  2. Jack Phillips says:

    The browning seasoning ruined it

    1. kabbagehart says:

Sorry you didn’t like the browning sauce, feel free to omit it next time!

  3. Did you change the recipe in the last week and a half? I made these last week and had the link saved and when I went back the ingredients and portions are completely different. You also have completely different ingredients listed in the beginning and end of this article.

    1. kabbagehart says:

Hey Ben! Sorry about that, I was updating a different recipe post and ended up updating the wrong one. I’ve reverted it back to the original portions. Only update is the black pepper based on user feedback!

  4. Esmeralda Medrano says:

Do you by chance have a cooking conversion for an air fryer for this recipe?

    1. kabbagehart says:

Hi Esmeralda, I don’t have a cooking conversion for an air fryer. Given the nuggets are smaller, my best (educated) guess would be to cook them for approx. 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. If you have a meat thermometer internal temp should be 165 degrees. I hope that helps!

  5. Hi! Trying these today. Do you use the same macros for these as you listed for actual Chick-fil-a nuggets? Thank you!

    1. Kim Abbage Hart says:

Hi Catie! Yes, for 8 pieces the macros will be the same (assuming you’re using boneless skinless chicken breast). Hope that helps!

  6. 5 stars
    100/10 tastes better than Chick-fil-a

    1. Kim Abbage Hart says:

Thomas, I’m so happy you liked them!

  7. Is Browning Sauce necessary for the flavor? I’m nor sure what other recipies I’d use it for

    1. Kim Abbage Hart says:

Hi Danny, Browning sauce does add a smokey, slightly sweet flavor to the nuggets. That said a good substitute is Worcestershire sauce if you have that on hand. Hope that helps!
