Burger Salad Bowl

I promise you won't miss the bun and you will get invited to the next cookout! This Backyard burger salad is sure to please the next time you're craving a burger, but want to keep it low carb. It's complete with all the elements you'd expect in a burger and we top it with a secret special sauce.

Ingredients
  

Pickled Red Onions

  • 1/2 Large red onion sliced
  • 1/2 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Crushed red pepper
  • 1 squeeze Honey

Burger Patties

  • 1.5 lbs 96/4 lean ground beef
  • 1.5 tsp Chili powder
  • 1.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Special Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Low fat mayo
  • 1/2 tsp Dijoin mustard
  • 1 tsp Low sugar ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 splash Dill pickle juice

Burger Salad Toppings

  • 1 handful Lettuce
  • 1 handful Grape tomatoes sliced
  • 1 tbsp Shredded cheese
  • Pickled red onions
  • Dill pickles sliced

Instructions
 

Quick Pickled Red Onions

  • In a measuring cup or bowl, combine all ingredients for pickled red onions except the onions.
  • Mix together and transfer to a saucepan and bring to boil. Once at a boil, remove from heat.
  • Place onions in an air tight container and pour the hot mixture on top. Place lid on top and set aside.

Burger Patties

  • Season ground beef with all the spices and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Score meat into 4 even sections and create patties. 1.5lbs of ground beef will give you approximately 4 - 5 large patties.
  • Cook burger patties either on the stove in a cast iron skillet over medium high heat or grill them up on a grill.
  • Once burgers are cooked to your desired doneness, set aside.

Special Sauce

  • in a small bowl, combine all ingredients for the special sauce and mix together well.

Building Burger Salad

  • On a plate, place your lettuce, tomatoes, burger patty, cheese and dill pickles
  • Next top the patty with the pickled red onions
  • Drizzle the special sauce on top
